This my first question to this fourm. I’m currently working on a VoIP project for a large client. I have a simple question, that I couldn’t find a definitive asnwer for. The client still uses Cat3 cables in some locations and they were concerned if that was going to be a problem if the VoIP implementation involved carrying the voice packets over those older cables.
yes you can use cat3 cables, but if you can upgrade them to cat5e I would highly recomend it! Cat3 was highly suseptable to attentuation. They should pay the money to “garuntee” better quality. Or you could suggest a wireless 80211b solution.
