Timing Advance (TA) Resolution

    Hi Dear RF-Engineers..
    For TA Parameter : 0 to serving cell, we recognise a resolution of 0-550m distance to the Mobile Station.
    Is it possible to make the Resolution better, if we compare the serving cell outputpower with the Adjacent cell power as i also use the regarding proportion in root.?

    hi mustafa,

    short answer : no

    the only way to make resolution better is to triangulate the MS, by forcing it to establish a channel in several neighbour cells…

    another way : use the GPS module of the MS to know its location.

    The next neighbourcells on sector base is usually the same BTS. That s why it has the same Coordinates as the servingcell. I obtained the Observation Reports from Nsn in order to find out the relevant Parameters for Lokalization on GSm. There is only the neighbor cells and their signallevel, its usage is not suitable?! So, my question, are there any other Parameters to use in order to trangulate the Localization of Gsm or Umts.

    I beleive 0 to 0.5 km is ok resolution to know the traffic pattern and detrmine overshooting/Undershooting cells in optimization
    I US there is seprate E911 system is used to locate the distress calls
