    Hello,
We are facing a inter-MSC HO problem in which the source MSC rejects the HO_REQ from source BSC for HO_REQ to cell in target BSC with another MSC. The HO_REQ has the actual CGI of the target cell and the MSC replies in BSSMAP message as “Equipment Failure” . This case happens not all the day. definitions are perfect in both BSC s and MSC s. Both BSC and MSC are Ericsoon node.

Can anyone suggest the possible meaning of Equipment Failure. And possible methods to analyse the actual case.

    thanks,
    ram.

    Hi Ram
If the CIC allocated in the Handover Request message received by the target BSC is marked as
BLOCK or UA, the target BSC will respond to the MSC with a Handover Failure message with the
    cause value “Equipment Failure”.

Please check the CIC’s of Ater & A-interface of the Target MSC/BSC,either there is a mismatch or some CIC’s are blocked from one end.

    Hi Bijoy,
Thanks for reply. Actually am not able to look for any CIC value in HO_REQ from BSC side. And moreover the prepare HO between MSC s is not visible. And MSC replies with HO_REJ and cause equipment failure. Pls clarify,

    thanks,

The CIC information shold be there in the HO Request message. This message is sent from the Target MSC to the Target BSS via the relevant SCCP connection to indicate that the MS is to be handed over to that BSS.

If you cant find it,check the entire A- & Ater mapping for the target MSC & BSC.
