Understanding the network for a CLEC

Dear All,

I am new to the telecom industry and wanted to understand the network topology of “How a CLEC is connected to an ILEC and How does a CLEC depend on an IXC to carry it’s traffic?”. If you have any good link where I can go and read about this stuff, please share it with me.

Basically, from what I have understood so far is that a CLEC uses the facilities (switches and trunks) of ILEC’s from where the traffic is transferred to an IXC that carries the traffic to another ILEC and then ultimately to a CLEC?

It’ll be a great help for me if you can explain me this whole setup and working in detail.
