    Hello All,

i know that frequency hopping is implemented to enhance quality and have frequency diversity against interference, can any one explain how it can be use to enhance capacity? urgent replies pls

if your current capacity is limited by the number of frequencies you are allocated, then frequency hopping can help.

Ok, look, perhaps you cannot put more than 3 TRX / sector in your area, because if you do, there will be serious interference. You *can* physically put 4 TRX / sector, but there will be so many call drops, that you don’t gain much capacity by doing so. The extra traffic will be dropped or with quality so poor that the customer will be angry.

The limiting factor here is your number of frequencies. The frequency hopping will allow you to put 4 TRX / sector, while keeping an acceptable quality. The quality is not as good as before, but there is less risk of *critical* interference for one subscriber.

thanx pix,so it means means we can only use frequency hopping for increasing capacity only if we have many frequencies available…am i getting it right?

    No 🙂

You have a fix amount of frequencies (= n)

For n frequencies without frequency hopping, you are limited to 3 TRX / sector.

For n frequencies WITH frequency hopping, you can expect to reach 4 TRX / sector.

Of course, this is just an example! In your network, the values are not 3 or 4 TRX / sector. It’s certainly other values, that could be assessed by your planning department.
