MSC switching data rate

    MSC always functions on a data rate of 64kbps.This data rate is globally defined for each MSC.Can someone give me the technical reason why MSC can not work on any other rate.

    Hi, rate 64kbps has been chosen for ISUP protocol compatibility. In Ericsson MSC you cannot change it. MSC full rate Group switch has only this rate.

    Hi Outcast,

    I have seen that on Huawei and ZTE MSC that 54kbps SS7 link can be configured but I don’t know how.

    I think its HSL(High speed signalling terminal with 54 kbt rate). I’m working with Ericsson, and internal switch rate cannot be changed. What equipment do you have?
