1. How mant TRX 1 bts can handle??
2. whts the trunk capacity of a BTS
-Ericsson
-Nokia
-Huawei
-Alcatel
3. 1TRX support how many trunks??12th February 2008 at 13:44 #50905TNSGuest1. What is “mant”?
2. Define “trunk capacity of a BTS”…
3. Define TRX and trunks…12th February 2008 at 15:16 #50906m@uGuestA 1. The number of TRX a BTS can handle depeneds in the BTS max config like 12,12,12 for a nortel S12000 or 18,18,18 for a s18000, but also dependes on your frequency plan.
A2. Trunk capacity are the E1s or T1s connected from the BTS to the BSC, could be another limitation for question 1.
A3. 2 Time slots per TRX are used in the trunk. consider a couple of sync time slots for the BTS. Nortel handles 14 TRX per E1.
12th February 2008 at 15:30 #50907pixGuestwith standard OML/RSL multiplexing :
1 E1 has 32 timeslots, with:
1 TS for physical signalling/synchro
1 TS per group of 4 RSL (=4TRX)
2 TS per TRXa BTS with 4 TRXs use 10 E1 TS (1×4)
a BTS with 5 TRXs use 13 E1 TS
a BTS with 6 TRXs use 15 E1 TS
a BTS with 7 TRXs use 17 E1 TS
a BTS with 8 TRXs use 19 E1 TS (2×4)
a BTS with 9 TRXs use 22 E1 TS
a BTS with 10 TRXs use 24 E1 TS
a BTS with 11 TRXs use 26 E1 TS
a BTS with 12 TRXs use 28 E1 TS (3×4)
a BTS with 13 TRXs use 31 E1 TS
a BTS with 14 TRXs use 32 E1 TS (4/4/6)In Alcatel, with a more agressive multiplexing, one can reach more TRXs per E1 (but less radio timeslots for TCH can be defined) (up to 16 TRX / E1). But this is not recommended, because nobody wants to loose TCH capacity 🙂 It can be useful for remote BTS with Abis over satellite.
12th February 2008 at 18:45 #50908AbdelGuestFor both Huawei & ZTE the Max trx capacity is 12 TRX, one link OML and 12 RSL links.
12th February 2008 at 20:13 #50909TNSGuestHi, all.
It’s shame for me but I never consider as trunk the two Abis links maximum connected to the Alcatel BTS cabinet.
Never consider as trunk the pair of Abis TS…
Trunk – it’s NSS term for me…
Sorry – my mistake…In the Acatel Abis interface 7 TRXs need a 3 TS for signaling ( mux 64 ). 8 TRXs need 2 ( mux64).
BR,
TNS12th February 2008 at 20:14 #50910AbdelGuestI mean for one E1, for 24 you need two E1s.

can any one define me this
s2/2/2
s1/2/113th February 2008 at 19:09 #50912AbdelGuestHi Ali,
S222 or S/2/2/2 the letter “S” means sector while “O” means omni. a S222 is a BTS with three sectors and every sector is holding two TRXs. While the S121 means a BTS with three sectors, the first sector and the third one is holding one TRX each, while the second is holding two TRX. I think you catch it.Ali
18th February 2008 at 21:35 #50913ZatGuestI have 50 000 subscribers with each using 0.02 Erlang and
1 TRX = 3 Erlang; 2 TRX’s = 5 Erlang; 3 TRX’s = 15 Erlang; 4 TRX’s = 20 Erlang and must design a GSM network. Can you help please.28th February 2008 at 18:27 #50914Juan Carlos AngelGuestBuy as a key to download files relating to BTS Nortel
3rd March 2008 at 11:31 #50915BalajiGuestIn a one bts with 444 trx structure how many calls possible at a time
3rd March 2008 at 15:51 #50916pixGuestapprox. 90 calls max in Full Rate, and 180 calls in Half Rate.
It highly depends on the number of SDCCH subchannels needed (for SMS, or for LU), and on your GPRS traffic.
My assumptions are : normal SMS & LU numbers + no GPRS traffic at all.
4th March 2008 at 18:10 #50917rajGuestTell me the trx signalling function in bts & bsc.
4th July 2008 at 04:18 #50918Anil Kumar TunwalGuestHi
can any one suggest me something about BTS TRX design . I got the assignment of TRX design according to 3GPP TS45.005
