I am wanting to know the difference between a clear (unchannelized) circuit and a channelized circuit. The main question is whether the clear channel circuit needs signaling and framing specified? I have got different answers for this.

No, a clear channel does not need signalling /protocols to be specified. It is a clear circuit which you can do what you want with. The end equipment is responsible for framing etc. The end equipment would also be responsible for bit timing.

channelized circuit is to be used with DCME, clear channel doesnt need framing.
