    thanks.

    that is a valuble data.

i want to make it more interesting in calculating no. of erlangs per sub per hour.

    TCH load per subscriber
= [ # of call attempts per sub per hour*%MOC + # of call attempts per sub per call*%MTC*(1-%no response)*(1-% no answer)*%MTC success] * mean call duration /
    3600

    example
    1. number of call attempts (MOC+MTC) per subscriber per hour 1.1
    2. percentage of MOC 60%
    3. percentage of MTC 40.0%
    4. no answer from a mobile subscriber 13.5%
    5. no paging response 32.5%
    6. successful MTC 54.0%
    7. mean call duration (MOC/MTC) 115 sec

if now calculate erlang per subscriber
    =[ 1.1 * 60% + 1.1 * 40% * (1-32.5%) * (1-13.5%) * 54%] * 115/3600
    = 0.026 Erlang

    hope this is useful
    thnks n regards

Hi, if anyone of you has an erlang b table in excel format, kindly send it to celmacatiggay@yahoo.com.

    Many thanks! =)

Can anybody tell me how to calculate the percentage load on the signalling link set if i have the following parameters
    (1)No of MSU Transmitted
    (2)No of MSU Received
    (3)No of SIF/SIO Transmitted
    (4)No of SIF/SIO Received
PL forward the formula on rajputmsandeep@gmail.com

I am working for a Telecom organisation and I would like to know How to Calculate BHCA of a PABX or Network switch.

Early reply shall be highly appreciated.

Our PABX normaly static traffic Capacity 36000 BHCA against 1536 port/ terminal.
But,how many the dynamic traffic capacity against 1536 terminal/port? and what is the procedure traffic(BHCA)calculation?

    With thanks

Assume 0.05 Erlang per PSTN subscriber.
    3000 Subscribers generate 150 Erlang requiring at least 6 E1 Trunks(180 channels of 64 kbps)required for non-blocking on circuit-switching

If the traffic is transported over IP, what shall be the bandwith required in KBPS ??

Is there any formula please?? Thanks.

    Hi, Ramesh!
First, there isn’t an exact formula for calculating the needed bandwidth. It depends on the VoiceCodec that you will use.
G.729 is very good VoCodec if you choose it that will cost you about 26.4 kbps (PPP) or 29.6 kbps (Ether) for every channel in TDM. In you case 180*26.4=4.752Mbps
But that is not constant, bandwidth is adjustible. It consist of:(Example is with G.711)
    1.Size of the sample (e.g. 80B)
    2.IP Header (e.g. 20B)
    3.UDP Header (e.g.12)
    4.RTP Header (e.g.8B)
    ———————–
    Total:120B per packet
The sample rate is 100pack/s (10ms per packet)
so the calculations are: 120*8*100/1000=80 kbps per one call
But if you put two samples in one packet you will save about 16kbps (When you increase the number of samples per packet, you also increase the amount of delay
on each call.DSP resources, which handle each call, must buffer the samples for a longer period of time.)

Second, you must consider that your subscribers not only generate calls, but also receive ones. Consider this.

P.S. If you provide me you e-mail I could send you one document about that problem.

    Link Load = ((MSU*6 + SIO/SIF Octets)*8) / ( 64000*3600)

Assumption that the measured values are taken in Hour and it is a low speed link.
Using 64000 instead of 65536 is also the correct way.
    Calculate your load per direction.

    Hi all,
I am Vadan from India, working for a CDMA service provider. Recently we have ordred Huwavi IP Switch and they have sent their call model.
There are few terms which i have heard first time. ONe of them is
Integrated BHCA. To find BHCA we used formula BHCA = Total (Erlang/Erlag per sub)*BHCA per Sub
    Traditional TDMA network formula.
Can anyone help me to find IP BHCA formula if i have followng data
    BHCA per sub; 2.23
    Erlang per sub: 35mEr
    Total Erlang capacity: 20000
    Average holding time: 56.30s

I would also like to know what is redundancy BHCA ?

    thanks
    with r’gds
