thanks a lot5th May 2002 at 16:38 #33332Nouman MahmoodGuestGrade of Service (or GOS) is the probability of a subscriber finding
Congestion. Congestion means that all circuits are busy and no
Switch path is available. Thus, a higher GOS means poor Service.A GOS 0.01 means 1 out of every 100 call is lost(or rejected) due
to congestion on circuits.Lets assume:
X = (( Traffic in Erlangs)^ n) / n!
SIGMA Y = (( Traffic in Erlangs)^ k) / k! ; k = 0 to k=n
GOS = X / SIGMA Y
Where n = Total no. of Circuits (or channels) avaible.

The GOS does not depend of Technology or Manufacture. It come from other variables.
The Number of Trunks that you available, The traffic in erlang that you expect to have.
With those value you will have de GOS..

GOS = Fails + congest

Calls10th July 2002 at 07:35 #33337Naveen KumarGuestWhat is the relation between GOS ,BHCA and traffic (in Erlangs)?
How can we calculate the traffic on E1 if we know the BHCA of our system?
What will happen if on a system with BHCA rating of 1 million ,5 million subscribers are calling at a time?
26th July 2002 at 13:19 #33338Zubair A.KhurshidGuestI am evaluating WLL netwrok on CDMA2000-One. I am looking for evaluating number of digital trunks (E1s)required by calculating erlangs and determining GoS. Can anybody send me GoS matrix in excel at zubair@dancom.com.pk
27th July 2002 at 12:36 #33339Mehmet BeyazGuestHi Joan,
GoS is basically the probability (P)of callers will be blocked (congestion). P=GoS usually % 2 for cells and GoS= %0.1.
For some callers not able to establish a call or get a service at the first attempt.
