Generally ,Ports denote no. of Time Slots /64 Kbps channels available in a switching system. Out of these total available ports some are reserved for internal communication in switch, some are used for providing service circuits like Tones/Announcements and remaining are used for Traffic Channels (Sub Lines and Interexchange Trunks).
