Could you please explain me the following:
“If you are using the SS7 links for ISUP, a general rule of thumb is to have 40E1s, per pair of SS7 links.”
it will be of great F1.

ITU (previous CCIT) had defined a few signalling systems (Nr. 5,6 etc.) Last version of signalling-SS7 had number in orded 7.
I think it is meaning of number 7 in own name SS7.22nd November 2004 at 17:26 #37067ChuckGuest

1. SS7 Link (64k) Load calcualtion
MSU = 0-272 Octets
IAM = 100 Octets max.
40% load on one link
10,080000 octets/hour (load/link
20,160,000 octets/hour (load/2link
100 IAM (octets)
201,600 IAM/Hour (/2links)
To be engineered for :
max. 0.4 Erl. /link (40%load)
up to 0.8Erl. in case of failure
17,231 trunks (ds-o) …. ex.
12,062 trunk usage
3,600 call sec.
43,422,120 call sec/h
200 average holding time
217,111 total attemps/h
15,631,963 octets/h (sig.load ds0)
100 IAM (octets)
156,320 IAM/h(generated by a ds0)

I have a questions regarding your SS7 calculation.
1. How octet in IAM messages counted?
2.Why only IAM, not till RLC?
3.you used 64Kbps as reference, but in culcation you used 56000 b/s?
