R2 signalling:It is called register signalling based on CAS signalling in which signalling & traffic alwaya take same path in network.Example:in 20 E1s ,16 channel no of each E1 is kept for signalling only.
SS7/CCS signalling:Signaling & traffic do take same path .In 20 E1s, 10 Timeslot of one or two PCMs are reserved for signalling for all PCMs.

Hi All,

Heres some basic query:
I just wonder that in CAS, 1 timeslot of every E1 caters he signalling traffic for 30 channels in 16 frames (2 channels per frame).
But, in SS7, 1 E1 carries the signalling for 1000s of circuits. How?

well abt ur queries .the cc7 is much more flexible than cas and moreover the voice and signalling are on diffrent paths ,which makes them unique unlike the CAS .The distribution of e1 to links depends on the the traffic. i.e no. of links is directly proportional to the traffic (erlang) .welli think i a able to solve some of ur problems

Hello All,

Im currently testing ATM backhaul for one of the mobile fone companies. My question is reagarding the timeslot assignment for E1’s. The thing is we provide two e1 links to our fone operator. One e1 link is full framed e1 and on the other one we are assigning two timeslots. I just wanna know the reason or advantage for providing full framed E1. Why is it necessary?
