    Grade of Service (or GOS) is the probability of a subscriber finding
    Congestion. Congestion means that all circuits are busy and no
    Switch path is available. Thus, a higher GOS means poor Service.

    A GOS 0.01 means 1 out of every 100 call is lost(or rejected) due
    to congestion on circuits.

    Lets assume:

    X = (( Traffic in Erlangs)^ n) / n!

    SIGMA Y = (( Traffic in Erlangs)^ k) / k! ; k = 0 to k=n

    GOS = X / SIGMA Y

    Where n = Total no. of Circuits (or channels) avaible.

    Hello,

    I work in ETB ( Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota), The biggest telecomunication company of my country, and I want to ask you, about How can I, get QOS over different tecnolo., for example, we have about 2.700.000 lines , some of those are EWSD ( Siemenes ) or AXE (Ericcson) or FETEX (Fujitsu),

    Thank you for your answer!

    PD. If someone can send me an excel of gos matrix to luz_infl@etb.com.co

    HAve a Nice day!

    Adriana,

    The GOS does not depend of Technology or Manufacture. It come from other variables.

    The Number of Trunks that you available, The traffic in erlang that you expect to have.

    With those value you will have de GOS..

    What do you think? about :

    GOS = Fails + congest
    —————— * 100
    Calls

    What is the relation between GOS ,BHCA and traffic (in Erlangs)?

    How can we calculate the traffic on E1 if we know the BHCA of our system?

    What will happen if on a system with BHCA rating of 1 million ,5 million subscribers are calling at a time?

    I am evaluating WLL netwrok on CDMA2000-One. I am looking for evaluating number of digital trunks (E1s)required by calculating erlangs and determining GoS. Can anybody send me GoS matrix in excel at zubair@dancom.com.pk

    Hi Joan,
    GoS is basically the probability (P)of callers will be blocked (congestion). P=GoS usually % 2 for cells and GoS= %0.1.
    For some callers not able to establish a call or get a service at the first attempt.

    Afriana,

    Yeas you are right, The gos 1% for example,

    Means: for each 100 call one call will be droped.

    Dear Jose,

    Then what is the range of GoS that should be chosen in a network design?
