Regular visitors will notice that we have revamped our web site to make it fresher and more mobile friendly (we hope). We’ve managed to import all the existing forum messages from the old web site into this new incarnation. They go back twenty years and make interesting reading – we feel like the curator of telecom opinions, confusions, solutions and celebrations.

We’ve also reinstated the VoIP and Call Center forums that we withdrew five years ago.

Westbay Engineers Ltd celebrates its 30th birthday this year and we continue to serve telecoms and call center professionals with free resources and industry-standard software solutions.

    Here’s to another thirty years,
Tom, and the team at Westbay Engineers.

Just had a look at erlang.com!

Noticed the changes. Still easy to search for questions that need to be addressed and answered.

What I would like to see are questions that relate to 5G, Machine Learning (ML), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Automation, O-RAN, IOT, etc..
5G is the solution that will enable AI, ML, IOT, etc..

    Hi Wallis,

Thanks for your encouraging comments. Importing 56,000 messages across to this new format was no small task, but worth the effort I think.

It’s interesting to see how this forum has changed in twenty years, as have the interests of industry specialists. It started with PBX questions and slowly moved to mobile/GSM issues, which I know you regularly contribute to. We don’t generally take part in the discussions but can easily add a fourth forum. Should we do that? What should we call it?

Have you seen Field of Dreams? “If you build it, they will come”, is a famously misquoted line from the film. Perhaps it would apply to a new discussion group.

    All the best,
    Tom Howard.

    Hi Tom,

Your site (erlang.com) for sure is an example of a good store for Telecommunication Questions and Answers.
From experience I have had a lot of follow ups to traditional and “new” (e.g. SDN. NFV, AI, ML, Automation, etc..) Telecommunication topics.

Build it and they will come! I will add a few posts on 5G / AI / ML / Hadoop / Flink / etc.. so that discussion / debate can ensure.

Thanks again Tom for the excellent work with erlang.com.

We have added a new forum to this site, as discussed. I have called it the 5G Forum. I have described it as a discussion group to:

“Swap ideas on 5G technology and the innovative applications whose deployment it encourages, including Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things.”
