With places like Bangalore and the like getting expensive relative to Indian standards, can anyone recommend new up and coming locations with understandably great infrastructure?

Hello Mar: Pune is a good and competitive location with availability of quality manpower and infrastructure facilities. Several multinationals including many Indian leading lights of IT industry have expanded their operations in Pune. We are looking at setting up a Call Center in Pune. Regards. Deepak (Dick)

    Hi Mar:

While looking for location, economics counts and what you can put in terms of training will get you more benefit, while we are in US, we hear a lot of Cochin, in the state of Kerala, offering great benefits and also understand that the IPLC line connectivity is also nearly 30% cheaper.

Since we keep on interacting for such matters, we come to lot such small and regular info., we can pass on that with pleasure as a Call Center buddy.

I am also in the US and hear that although Cochin/Karela has one of the IPLC links into India, that region is also known for issues with labour unions and therefore the cost to do business there is higher. Not sure if this is true or not!

    Hello Mar,
Chennai is just opening up for callcenters market in comparison to other Hot places of India.NASSCOM rates Chennai as the Number One City for settingup Callcenters, the reasons attributed being cheap real estate prices, Low Cost of Living, Good INfrastructure both interms of Physical infrastructure and Telecom Infrastructure. When Meaning Telecom Infrastructure, Singtel Submerged Cables from Singapore in association with AirTel is landing in Chennai.
Related with Manpower good colleges churning out good english speaking candidates..
Now to the Negative Points of Chennai, since callcenters are just opening up the awareness levels among female candidates and acceptance to work in night shifts is comparatively less to the other cities.
As always with other cities, there has been some cases of smaller callcenters closing down operations due to various reasons, or struggling to operate.
    As remarked by Kam Patel,
cochin is also booming as a nice place for callcenters. But i am not of the view that Labour Unions affect the functioning a callcenter.
thanks for allowing to express my views,
    palani.
