Hi A long message here but here it goes…Long story short we have one way delay / echo in a voip call that the caller only can hear his own voice as echo / delay. The callee does not hear this echo/ delay.

We have a televantage VOIP system & 2 Quintum A800 gateways, 1 for each location. at location 1 we have the Televantage & a gateway. When placing a call the caller creates 2 voip calls to connect to the callee. So from remote office through A800 to televantage system then to PSTN then from PSTN to televantage to remote televantage to callers phone. We notice echo/delay. When doing a direct call from A800 to Televantage to PSTN to caller it works perfectly. What could we do to fix this issue? we need to use this setup as it is. Thanks

If I understand, you are doing 2 voip legs. This is really not recommended because, in the least, you will create extra delay. Each time the voice packet has to be converted from voice to packet and back takes time. The more times you do this, the longer delay. Add to this any delays you have on your internet connection and it becomes worse.

As for echo, the same theory, if there is a little bit of echo somewhere to start, you may amplify it by this setup. You can check your gain settings and see if reducing the gains will help.

Hi Steve,” When doing a direct call from A800 to Televantage to PSTN to caller it works perfectly” How you connect the Televantage (what dialogic card do you use) to the gateway( Cisco 5300)?
