    hi Guys/Gals,

I have a Cisco 7960 Ip phone connected to the net via a US robotics router cum modem(USR 9003). The problem is that when the phone tries to connect to TFPT Server i get the “TFPT timeout” error message. I think the phone cant seem to download the call manager. The phone works becos it has worked before on the same setup, but whenever there is an outage of some sot then i have this problem..any ideas?

    Thanks

    Andrew,

My suggestion is to check to see if you can try using antoher IP for the TFTP server.. most of the time companies have more the one TFTP server for remote IP connections.

    If thats the issue..

My guess is its a traffic issue through your router / ISP.

Thank you for ur reply…will check this out….I am actually sitting in the UAE and connect to a CA exchange…the phone works wonderfully except when it has to reboot itself for whatever reason..i have a 1 meg line but suspect my upstream is not as it is promised by my isp. BTW what sort of bandwidth do these phones need?

    Thanks once again..

    Good luck with that…

The phone use 64kbps, with about 12 of overhead… so total about 86kbps..
