I want to setup PSTN sytem for a small town in Africa. There is no phone system for the town now. I want to provide local phone system to the town but I do not know where to begin. My thinking is I need somesort of switch then I will pull lines from the swich to the customers residence.

Please help. Can you give me some idea of where to start or where I can get such info.

You can start with Wireless Local Loop(WLL) phones instead of fixed line copper wires. The setup time will be less and you can start fast
