Cisco / Clarent Compatibility

    Can anyone tell if it’s possible to use cisco and clarent equipment together?? I have a cisco 5300 gateway and want to connect voip to a clarent gateway.

    Tom is wrong completely.
    It works absolutely fine with Clarent GK and CC software.

    Yes, It works perfectly fine. But like the previous guy said, you do need a GK. I also have a clarent network and cisco.

    Where do I need the gatekeeper, on the 5300 or on the clarent or both, could you please expand on this.

    You need a Clarent gatekeeper. Your AS5300 is then configured to register to the Clarent GK just the same as if it were a Cisco GK. The Clarent GK then performs the required message translation for the call signalling between Clarent and Cisco GWs.
