A service provider here in Malaysia offers VoIP service. Its users/customers use analogue phones(using PSTN lines) as well as digital phones.
This customer wants to focus its VoIP analysis on individual users, whereby being able to view statistics based on users phone numbers and IP addresses.
It seems that digital phones have an IP address, while analogue phones will have their existing phone number as an address.
I know that for VoIP, the addressing format is IP and not ‘phone numbers’.
Is there a solution to analyse individual phone numbers? What I mean by analyze is e.g. measure utilisation, delay, packet drops for each phone number.
Otherwise, is it possible to relate an IP address with a user’s phone number?
Please advise.
