Erlangs = concurrent calls?

    It is correct to assume that an Erlang value is equivalent to the number of concurrent calls a switch can handle?

    Here is where confusion sets in. It is my understanding that the number of concurrent calls may be expressed as a quantity of ‘Erlangs’ and by extension the total number of concurrent calls in a switch could be expressed as an “Erlang’ figure.

    This is not to be confused with the volume of calls wherby the total amount of call time is expressed as Erlang Hours (or CCS , call minutes etc). It is the Erlanh-hour figure which is used to calculate the number of circuits required on a route.
