    Given the details below for an SSP

    Load B / Load A ratio taken into account for the SSP 1.2

    Number of BHCA 1,358,400

    Average SSP CPU load 21.9%

    how do i compute
    1. SSP dynamic residual capacity?
    2. SSP dynamic capacity (number of BHCA) ?

    could anyone of you tell me how to choose LSL or HSL in E-1 links.
    whats the factors decides the usage of these links.

    Check this

     Signaling Speed of link =64000 Bits/sec
     Received octets =4946580
     Transmitted octets = 5462215
     Which ever is higher (transmitted or received ) will be consideration for calculation

     SS7 Traffic in the busy hour = 5462215 octets/hour
     SS7 Traffic in seconds =5462215/3600=1517.28 octets/second
     SS7 Traffic in terms of Erlang =1517*8/64000 =0.189 Erlangs
     Utilization =0.189/0.4*100=47.25

    Hello Prabhu,
    The link that has more signalling traffic can be recomended with HSL. Links between HLR – MSC/VLR normally use HSL. Other low requirement links can have LSL. With HSL bw HLR-MSC location update and call flow would be fast.

    Hi Sameer,
    The formula you used above, SS7 traffic in erlangs is divided by 0.4 (I assume it is used as maximum erlang capacity) Is it fixed or it is variable based on different scenario, I just received SS7 traffic plan from one Vendor and they have used this factor as 0.6.

    I assume that if you have to do the same exercise using T1 instead of E1 then you use

    56 kbits/sec
    instead of 64 kbits/sec

    Hi all,
    I got stuck a little with CAS.
    The timeslot 16 Only controls 2 voice channels in CAS?
    So that it means that in CAS 1 signaling link controls only 2 voice chanels, while in SS7 1 signaling link controls about 1000 voice channels…is that true?

    Hello Ruben,

    Regarding your query,When using a CAS signalling which belongs to SS7 also, channelling is associated ,I mean CH 16 is fixed as a signalling but it can carry more than 2 traffic channels not only 2 CH within E1 connection ,unlike SS7 that uses common Signal (CSC),which differs from CAS ,a signal link can be assign any of the channels in E1 or a T1 connections but on some sort their signalling channel can be use as traffic channel.

    E1 CAS can manage 30 channel of voice signaling because there are only 30 channels left on E1.
