    Hi Pix,
    please advise me how to tune my parameters to make more agressive power control to improve the DL quality? What are the optimal value for PC thresholds, averaging windows and power step sizes ?
    Thank you in advance,

    hi vanG,

    there are no optimal values… there are default values, and then there are optimized values, for specific cells.

    to make more agressive settings:
    decrease L_RXLEV_DL_L by 3dB-to-6dB
    decrease U_RXLEV_DL_L by 3dB-to-6dB
    decrease A_LEV_PC by 1
    And finally, reduce by “1” the parameters related to PC and which slow down PC command / ack messages. Unfortunately, i don’t recall their exact names. They contain the string “INT” and “ACK”.
    Instead of 2 and 1, set 1 and 0 (ie. -1 for each of them).

    And that’s about it.

    cheers,
    pix

    Thak you Pix,
    I’ll try this and give you feedback.The basic problem is that the our Freq plan is so limited and for this reasons there are a lot of cell with higher DL quality HO and drops…
    Best regards,

    hello,

    if you are using hopping, then you can increase Offset_hopping, which will allow worse RXQUAL for PC and for HO, if the cell is using hoping.

    It is very convenient.

    For example:
    l_rxqual_dl_p = 3 (acceptable rxqual in dl for PC)
    l_rxqual_dl_h = 4 (threshold for HO qual in DL)

    if you set offset_hopping = 1.5, then :
    PC threshold = 3 + 1.5 = 4.5
    HO threshold = 4 + 1.5 = 5.5

    1 is standard.
    value of 1.5 is “optimized”. A value > 1.5 is rather aggressive… Try steps of 0.2 (1.5, 1.7, 1.9…)

    Cheers,
    pix

    Thank you Pix,
    I just tried to tune PC for cells whitout hopping.. After that I’ll give you feedback.
    Once again thank you for your help !!

    Hi Pix,
    I was tried to change the PC parameters for some cells with high DL quality drops but there is no improvement for them…
    My current setting for this cells are :
    A_LEV_PC (SACCH)=3
    A_QUAL_PC (SACCH)=3
    BS_P_CON_ACK (x 2 SACCH)=2
    BS_P_CON_INTERVAL (x 2 SACCH)=1
    EN_BS_PC =ENABLE
    EN_MS_PC =ENABLE
    L_RXLEVDLP (dBm)=-85
    L_RXLEVULP (dBm) =-95
    L_RXQUALDLP=2
    L_RXQUALULP=2
    MAX_POWER_INC (dB)=8
    MAX_POWER_RED (dB)=4
    MS_P_CON_ACK (x 2 SACCH)=2
    MS_P_CON_INTERVAL (x 2 SACCH)=1
    POW_INC_STEP_SIZE (dB)=6
    POWER_INC_FACTOR =0.8
    POWER_RED_FACTOR =0.5
    POWER_RED_STEP (dB)=2
    PWRC=NOT_INCLUDED
    U_RXLEVDLP (dBm)=-75
    U_RXLEVULP (dBm) =-85
    U_RXQUALDLP=1
    U_RXQUALULP=1
    W_LEV_PC =1
    W_QUAL_PC=1
    Are they correct ?
    Best regards,
