    hi,

it is only based on what the BSC decides to do. and the BSC itself bases its decision on the outputs from the TCH allocation algorithm.
Usually, under a specific load threshol, the TCH is allocated in FR. Above this threhsold, the TCH is allocated in HR.
The load = the TCH load in that cell.

    Hi Pix,

What is the need of Network setting “IMSI attach flag” (0 or 1) in system information.

I know if the IMSI attach flag is set to 1, MS will do IMSI attach or else It will do location update.

But what condition Network will set it to 1 or 0.

    Thanks & Regards,

There is no disadvantage in using hald rate…infact if you activate AMR in the network than half rate call will as capable as Mon-AMR full rate.

    hi,

    impacts other than voice quality:

    – increase of traffic on AterMux and A interfaces
    – increase of traffic load in the BSC (might impact the BSC dimensioning)
    – need to tune HR and AMR-R thresholds
    – need to buy HR licenses in order to declare TRXs as HR-capable (same goes for AMR-HR)

Those are not disadvantages… just “constraints”.

    Cheers,
