GuestHi all,
on SGSN Level we are experiancing increase in PDP context activation failures, what degradation should be observed on RF stats if any. We are working on Ericsson eqPS Core Engr
GuestI dont know exactly, how it works for Ericsson eq. But in NSN eq, you can try to check the Gb links status, check its frame relay alignments and stats, also check if the NS – VCs are all up and running fine. Not only int the RAN side you can check but you can also check this in the core side as well such as the APN resolutions checkings.

Guesthi,
in rf stats, you should see less traffic that before. MS just can’t set data transfers up !
Check the traffic volume at LLC layer.
Also, MS are now doing more signalling traffic (PDP ctxt requests) than User plane traffic, proportionally. If there is such indicator (signalling vs user plane), then you should see a difference compared to before.

GuestJust qurious,
Would it also effect TBF establishment Success Rate / TBF Failures / Drops be effected .ghamiz
Guestam also interested in getting answer to mani question…

Guestwell, that’s hard to forecast.
there will be less traffic, so less tbf estbalishments. But KPIs should remain stable.Dell
GuestHi,
If the symbol for edge or gprs (E or G) dissapears on the phone and apears after few seconds, is that a problem in a cell level or sgsn level. What can cause this behaviour?
BR,

Guesthi dell,
i would suspect deactivation of the PDP Context or a GPRS Detach procedure taking place.
Both should be caused by the core network. However I can’t think of a reason why the MS will re-initiate a GPRS Attach or a PDP Ctxt Activation. On the radio side, the only scenario i can think of is when the MS is changing Routing Area/Location Area : during the Routing Area Update, it is possible the MS does not display the E/G symbol. The RA takes just few seconds.
Or perhaps the MS was in a PS transfer, and there was a TBF drop. In such case, while the MS is recovering from the drop, it is possible the E/G symbol disappears.
Finally, it’s maybe the phone display itself which doesn’t display the symbol continuously 🙂
cheers

Guestto just add to your first thought, some phones like Nokia have the option to automatically attach to the network when available. Perhaps it automatically ATTACHed itself! Isn’t it possible?
pix
Guestyes, but attach is not the issue : why does it detach in the first place?

GuestDear All,
does the PDP context creation still established when the MS is in moving from HPMN to VPMN? from Gn to Gp?
Best regards,
