    hi anshu,

i am not sure if antenna hopping is something that is standardized in 3GPP. Therefore, antenna hopping might mean different things for different vendors…
anyway, here is how it works for ALU:
a TRX transmits one TDMA frame through one antenna, and the next one through the other antenna.
This is a feature that works only with twinTRX.

The benefit is that each timeslot is sent over two different antenna, alternatively, so that helps fighting fast fading. Radio coverage is increased.

    Hi,
how to know that antenna hopping is working in ALU. Is there any parameter to activate or just like that, the only thing you need is TWIN TRX? And, how it works if the operator configures TWIN as 2 TRX and as 1 TRX?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Dell.

    hi,

you need to be in B11, buy the feature and then set EN_ANTENNA_HOPPING to enable.
the twinTRX must be in capacity mode (= 2TRX).

In coverage mode (=1TRX) the twinTRX is doing TxDiversity, which is a continuous transmission over two antenna, so that’s better than antenna hopping already.

Pix would twinTX use same azimuth or each TX having its own azimuth?

    hi paraho,

    welcome back 🙂

both TX ports should be connected to antennas pointing in the same direction (from same sector).

For example, each TX port could be connected to each port of a cross polar antenna.
