    Halo,

do someone know, how is the algrorith to define the location of a call (e.g. dropped call).
I have the RxLev and Coorditates of a Serving Cell and 6 RxLevs and Coord. of the neighbours cells.
How can i locate the position with this informations(GSM).

    Thanks a lot

    halo alo,

you can’t correlate the rxlev with the position of the MS.

rather, you must use the Timing Advance, which is an information available in the Measurement Result messages.

The TA gives you the distance between serving BTS and MS.

Since you can’t triangulate the MS thanks to the neighbours, you must know what is the orientation of the serving cell’s antenna.
Based on this, you are able to know, roughly, where is the MS.

The RxLev of the neighbours could then be used to further optimize the position of the MS, but I don’t think it that’s a good idea (RxLev depends on many more things than just the longitude and latitude of the MS !)

    regards

    Thank pix!

you answer is clearly, but how i can get the TA from adj cells with the nsn measurements/observations.
Throught eg. call dropped observation i can get the TA from serving cell and the rxlevs from adjs, exits any others features to get this TA informations.

    Thanks a lot

    hi,

you cannot know the TA between MS and the neighbour cells.
you can only know what is the rxlev of the best neighbours, that’s all.
