UMTS capable phone

    Is it possible to understand which UE’s are UMTS capable from BSSMAP signalling without checking IMEI?
    Shortly what i want to know is,is it possible to see if the mobile phone of the subscriber is UMTS capable or not by checking SS7 messages between BSC and MSC? But not from IMEI.
