Does anyone have any experiece in calculating the coverage for agents solely in a text message environment, no voice at all?

If you are asking how many agents you need to service callers, use Erlang C. These tables are for any queue use, whether it be voice, queueing for theatre tickets or to ‘use the bathroom’.
