    C1 and C2 are the cell reselction parameter , C1 is mainly used for cellreselection and C2 may be used as an optional use.

    C1 calculation is taken into account by bcch rxlevel and max ms tx power and other parameters

    Hi,

    it is all explained in the 3GPP… that’s perhaps the only “radio” algorithm that is fully standardized 🙂

    (look for “idle mode” in the 3GPP titles, in the 2x serie)

    C1 = RxLev(bcch) – RXLEVACCESSMIN – MAX(0, MS TXPWR MAX CCH – P)

    C2 = C1 + CELL RESELECT OFFSET
    (i’m not putting the temporary offset)

    cheers,

    Hi Pix,
    Is it is possible to use only C2 instead of C1 and what will differ .

    And what is multirat?

    hello lex,

    C2 can be used for reselection, it is an option that is activated through another parameter.
    In this case, the MS reselects the cell with highest C2, as long as this cell also verifies C1 > 0.

    The only difference is that the C2 is using an offset that can be fine-tuned by the optimizer (the cell reselct offset), as to favour specific bands or layers in the network.

    multi-RAT = multi radio access technology = 2G + 3G + 4G
