what should be the ideal value for this timer? pls help
18th November 2009 at 05:13 #59655BijoyGuestMost of the vendors keep it 3s
23rd November 2009 at 02:00 #59656coolGuestwhat is the function of this timer?
23rd November 2009 at 04:56 #59657fedGuestThe timer T3101 supervises the immediate assignment procedure.
it starts when the BSC sends an immediate assignment command message to the BTS and stops when an establish indication message is received from the MS. in case of timer expiry the BSC asks BTS to release the channel by sending the RF_channel rel message23rd November 2009 at 05:16 #59658coolGuesttnx fed. but what is the relation with sdrop? sdrop due to t3101? tnx..
23rd November 2009 at 10:23 #59659PixGuest“BTS to release the channel by sending the RF_channel rel message”
===> This is a SD ASSIGNMENT FAILURE.
Not a SD DROP.
The SD DROP is not impacted by T3101.
If an indicator is called “SD DROP DUE TO T3101 EXPIRY”, then it is a mistake. It should be called “SD ASSIGN FAIL”.
What is the difference :
After a SD DROP, the call setup is failed. Subscriber must re-attempt by himself.
After a SD ASG FAIL, the MS will automatically retry, by sending additional CHANNEL REQUEST.
23rd November 2009 at 11:10 #59660BijoyGuestHi Pix
In Nokia, they use the term “SDCCH Drop due to T3101 expiry”
In ZTE,they use the term “SDCCH Other reasons Drop” for T3101 expiry.Telecom is such a vendor dependent world:-)
23rd November 2009 at 13:50 #59661PixGuestBijoy,
But whatever the name… the logic is that it is not a drop !
You can call it a drop if you want. But in your mind, you must look at it as a assignment failure. The SDCCH was never used in the 1st place, so how can it drop ? ๐Telecom is a world of illusion…
23rd November 2009 at 18:17 #59662AliAsgherGuestActually it is a SDCCH Drop from BSC perspective. ๐ It allocated a SD after such efforts and the naughty MS can’t even camp on it….
So it is a BSC-Perspective Drop.
Telecom is a world of manipulation.
24th November 2009 at 07:38 #59663PixGuestAli,
the sdcch is not allocated yet. It is just reserved for a MS. The MS never used it, so for the BSC point of view (there is no establish indication) the SDCCH was never allocated…
Telecom is a world of Great Vocabulary ๐
25th November 2009 at 06:56 #59664AliAsgherGuestI reserved a table in a restaurant but never reached there. From the management point of view I wasted their space and this could have caused a drop in their income.
Hence it is a BSC perspective drop. ๐
And by the way, Telecom is a world of misconceptions.

As far as I know, drop is always calculated from user perspective.Since the user never acknowledged the SDCCH given to him,it cant be taken as a drop. From BSC perspective also,it is not a drop, since it told the BTS to use that SDCCH for some other service.Drop is also known as “abnormal release”.Here the release command is given by BSC itself. But yes,too much T3101 expiry can lead to SDCCH congestion(income loss:-))

I know it is not a SDCCH drop.I just said that some vendors say it as a drop and you cant change their grammer:-).Br\\
