    Hi,

Can anyone give a rough figure for expected busy hour concurrent calls given a subscriber base. ( lets say 2 million? )

    Regards,

    Keith

    Hello kdriver,

the number of calls is not really relevant, what matters more is the volume of traffic (erlangs)

    25mErl / subscriber @ BH x 2 millions = 50 000 erlangs

assuming average call duration of 50 seconds (rather realistic )
    50.000 erl / 50 = 1.000 calls

So 2 millions subsribers (typical subscribers) will generate about 1000 calls of 50 seconds, at busy hour, during one hour.

To handle 50k Erlangs, you need about 600 BTS with 4/4/4 configuration ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks Pix. That gives me the answers I was looking for.

Is 25mErl/sub an industry standard figure?

What do you mean by 4/4/4 configuration for the BTS?

    Cheers,

    Keith

    Keith,

Yes, 25mErl/sub is a typical figure

    4/4/4 : 1 BTS with 3 sectors, and 4 TRX per sector.

    Sector 1 = 4 TRX
    Sector 2 = 4 TRX
    Sector 3 = 4 TRX

    … 4/4/4 … ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hello, guys! ๐Ÿ™‚
Sorry, Pix, but 50 000 Erlangs is enough great value. But 1000 calls per hour is enough small value.
    Load intensity=50 000 erl represents the total holding time (in sec)= (50 000*3600)= 180000000.
    And, hence,
BHCA=(180000000/50)=3600000 calls, i.e 1,8 calls per subscriber in busy hour.

    hi pan,

    50.000 erl = # calls * (50s / 3600s)

    therefore :

    1/ # calls = 3.6 millions
    2/ you are 100% right
    3/ i’m embarassed ๐Ÿ™‚

was i drunk when i replied to this message ?

How to change Erlang to MBPS?

Suppose i have 1000 Erlang in bussy hours, and my max number of concurent call is 1500, so how could found the utilization based on 1500 concurrent call usage?
