According to the GSM standards 900 has low propagtion loss but high penetration loss. but during in field experience i found that signal drop for DCS were quite high. i was able to get -60dBm level which dropped to -90dBm as soon as i moved inside the building. can anybody explain this concept?

Most of field measurements are confirming what you are saying : GSM900 has better penetration.

I don’t know why anyone would say otherwise…

according to “Coverage Forecast and Propagation
    Model” document

    “Generally, the
diffraction capability of low frequency signals is stronger than that of the high frequency signal.
But the penetration capability of low frequency signals is weaker than that of the high frequency
    signal.”

I’m confused over this point as this contradicts what we actually get in the field.

The document is just a document… you must believe in your measurements ! And as I said, many measurements are confirming your findings.

As a conclusion, never trust anyone else than yourself.. 🙂
