Hye guys can u tell me bout how to increase GSM cell range or any new method to decrease the losses at the BTS.
Extended TRX can increase the range upto 70 kms but only theoritically coz bts does not have that much output power..

    Hi,

don’t forget that you must enhance the DL path (increase EIRP) but also enhance the UL path equally (increase sensitivity).

    – higher antenna
    – higher gain antenna
    – bigger feeders
    – TMA (for UL gain only)
    – less combiners on the Tx path (for DL gain only)

it’s not really difficult to reach 70km, as long as there are not much obstacles and line of sight (sea, high mountain, desert, open area, …).
Now, in a busy environment, you can’t even dream of reaching 20km 🙂

Hey A site to cover a radius of 70 Km????? Is it the first site in your location? N how is the method to extend TRX to increase the range?

I guess the question itself has some fundamental confusions??? Sorry if am wrong.

Pix, The criterias you have given hold good but are you sure its gonna help for as long as 70 KM??????

    David,

In true open space, the “free space propagation” formula says that a GSM TRX could send signal as far as hundreds of km…. and still the Ms would measure rxlev > -110dBm.

And the free space is valid…
