TA for an individual MS is
    1. used by BTS
    2. calculated by BTS

    I have a doubt…

After C2, does BTS(new one) knows the TA for the MS now entered in its area?

    I think it is NO.

TA is a parameter which becomes effective only when the MS is in DEDICATED MODE??

    TA is calculated from RACH?

    If yes,
then how do the TA LIMIT restricts the MS from receiving an incoming call??

    Regards!!!!

    Hello MKT,

    You KNOW the answer !
    Look.

What happens exactly when a MS receives an incoming call ?

    MS receives a PAGING.
According to your post, the BTS cannot calculate the TA thanks to PAGING. You are right.

    Then?
The MS replies with… a CHANNEL REQUEST 🙂
At this point, the BTS will compute the TA, and decide to accept the MS or not.

    Dears,
    great information,
just I want to add that the TA and RX-lev send together (Syt. information) by SACCH header (12th frame)every (480MS/period),
question: are the BSC take TA value in a consideration when it judge the new power control value and in which step??????

    regards

It depends on vendor’s implementation of PC, but I strongly believe that most vendors do not use the timing advance as an input parameter of power control.
