in remote BSC synario 16kbps abis full rate channel is mapped to 64kbps Ainterface channel.
but in half rate what happens at the Ater interface??
does 8kbps HF channel is mapped to a 16Kbps channel in Ater interface.
or 2*8Kbps channels are mapped to one 16kbps Ater interface channels.

with half rate:
on air interface: 2 calls share 16kb/s
on abis interface, 2 calls share 16kb/s
on ater interface, 1 call on 16kb/s
on a interface, 1 call on 64kb/s

therefore, the design of a and ater interfaces is based on the number of calls, whichever the radio codec used.
