What are the draw backs of a 1800 Mhz spectrum and how can it be overcome?

    drawback : higher attenuation

solution : combine the 1800MHz cell with a collocated 900 MHz cell. 900MHz for coverage, 1800MHz for capacity.

This is referred to as “Multi Band” network, and is the main solution to densify existing 900MHz networks, or extend 1800MHz network’s coverage.

how to improve coverage of a 1800MHz cell ? the same way than for 900MHz :

better antennas (more gain), higher antennas, less downtilt, better azimuth, more efficient feeders, hi power trx, better sensitivity, 4 RX diversity, 2 Tx Diversity, … all the usual solutions !
