Dear All
We recently migrated our Abis traffic of a microcell from microwave to fiber optic. As a result SDCCH mean holding time has increased by 2 seconds. Why has it happened and how it can be diagnosed and brought back to normal. It is source of concern because fiber is supposed to perfrom much superior and faster.
Secondly is it because of Abis media transfer or could it be some other factor(TRX malfunctioning) that caused this increase. Apparantly it happened right after Abis transfer.

have you checked the mean holding time per TRX ? if there is the increase only on one TRX, then it’s trx dependent.
is there a decrease in call drop rate after the abis change ? less call drops means longer average call duration.
