In our network I experienced that both MSC and HLR are involved in both ZTE and Huawei network. So the rest of the vendors might be same.

Usually all USSD routing is performed in HLR. Here you analyse USSD string and route it to corresponding USSD server. Of course, GT analyse is done on all NE in network

Thanks for the info. Just wondering what logical chn do these use over the air interface?? Is it SDCCH? And is there a special pathc that has to be installed for these or they come as built in feature with the vendor equipment??

USSD is standart feature supported by default as I’ve met.
