We recently installed a new PBX at an older manufacturing plant. We knew there were poor cabling records so we paid our VAR to do a tone and tag. Although they provided us with their documentation, during the cut-over we ran into several problems. Analog lines were daisy chained, color standards weren’t adhered to and most of the lines needed to be rewired to get the new digital phones to be activated.
Question: What is the industry standard of the scope or defination of a tone & tag?
Our feeling was that most of these problems during the cut-over should have been discovered during the tone and tag.
