Why we use hoppoing and what is its benefits.

the channels allocated to a service provider are not always gud in condition( noise free channels)

to avoid this hopping is required

and also we cant stop using the channel which is full of noise

    Dear Irfan
The main function of using hopping is to reduce the interference & fading problems. Another reason is that by using the synthesiser hopping we can reduce the number of TRX required.

what is the difference between baseband and synthesiser hopping??
i heard two types of answers..
so it ll be better if any tell me abt the spec number i ll read it..

    Hi Vivek,
Why using synthesiser hopping can reduce the number of TRX?

    rahun, yes, that’s weird !

    Vivek,
actually, you can reduce the size of your “reuse cluster”… but not the number of TRX per cell. That has nothing to do with which frequency hopping you’re using. It has to do with the traffic offered only.

    Hi Mr.Pix
    ITS NOT WIERD…..OK!!!!

For your kind information if u r running a site with 4-4-4 conf & u are not using any hopping then you need 12 carriers to run the site.
Else if u r using hopping then u will require only 3 carriers (per sector) for BCCH & the rest of the carriers can be made to run on hopping using the whole MA list with proper MAIO & HSN planning.
Now i think that this might hav made u clear….

I think that u r getting confused with TRX & carriers.

yes, you confused TRX and carriers, then. You said “reduce the number of TRX required”.
you should have said “reduce the number of carriers required.”

    … OK !!!

    Hi Giri… Hope this helps

Two methods of implementing frequency hopping, both are slow frequency hopping techniques.

The frequency of the transmission only changes once every time a burst is transmitted.

    Synthesizer Hopping
Each timeslot on a given transceiver can transmit at a different frequency. . This is an efficient method for small sites.

    Baseband Hopping
Each transceiver stays at the same frequency and the data is switched to the appropriate transceiver. The number of hopping frequencies is limited to the number of transceivers

    Hi Pix,

    Its Ok Buddy…
Anyhow i think that i have made myself clear now..
    thanks & bye…

I will like to comment on vivek .
reducing the number of TRX is the
thing that no CARRier will like
they will like 6/6/6 sites or more.
The only impact with more number of TRX with RF/Synthesizer hopping is that it will have impact on RF Loading.

MIMO antenna techniques can achieved huge capacity gains without requiring extra bandwidth.how we can acheive most of the gain for fullfilment of diffrent types of hopping using mimo techniques?

Hi CRIS still i am confuse between Synthesiser and Baseband Hopping.kindly explain in detail what is the basic difference between the two.
