Hi, what is impact of reducing or increasing the MFRMS parameter (number of multiframes) for a cell on paging performance. has it anything to do with the BTS queuing etc??
Increasing MFRMS(no. of Multiframes between paging), will summon no. of paging groups increasing that’ll create delay in call set-up time as Mobile has to wait for paging group for long time.[formul for No. of paging group N:=(9-noofblocksforAccessGrant)*MFRMS[for non-BCCH combined].
Paging group N:(IMSI mod 1000)mod N.//that means N is proportional
MFRMS].
if MFRMS decreases no. of paging group will decrease & then no. of IMSI in one paging group will increase.Increasing MFRMS will also reduce cell reselection sensitivity but saves lot of battery power of MS.
what is the impact of having different paging groups in one single LAC?
example:
In LAC = 100
I have 33 cells such that 18 cells having AG_Blocks = 3 and MFRS = 4,
while the next 12 cells
having AG_Blocks = 2 and MFRS = 4
and 3 cells having AG_Blocks = 2 and MFRS = 5.
