How to calculate the the capacity of access lines on G-bit ethernet if you need to service “n” PC’s on this access line? Used protocol-IP.
What is effective speed of users data on G-bit ethernet if the number of users raise?

What is the rule of thumb on Erlang. Is it the
    > higher Erlang is better or
    > the lower Erlang is better? If it is better, who
    > benefit from this ie. the
    > telco operator or the caller.

    Hi Raymond,
GOS or grade of service is nothing but how many calls are remaining without obtaining signalling setup ,out of 100.If 4 call attempts are being failed due to set up problem then GOS will be 4 % .

    Lara,

ARS (Automatic Routing Selection), is the routing table, tells the switching system or PBX where to route the call depending on the numbers dialled. Say, if routing says block all calls with 00%, It will block all the international calls.

Where as GoS (Grade of Service) is the service level offered by an operator. Say, an operator has P.02 GoS, means two calls fail out of 100 simultaneous call attempts.

    regds.

i think what adriana means is ASR or answer-seizure ratio, i dont know, but they are somehow related, if you have low ASR, meaning you get very poor completion of your calls, it means you have high GoS, lots of congestion etc., and vice versa, inversely proportional i would say

What is the corelation between TRXs and voice channels? For e.g. if I have 6 TRXs does it mean, I have 6 lines?? Then based of the 6 lines, can I back out the total busy hour erlangs I can support for a given GOS??

    Thanks for the help,
    NR

    Hi JCD,
A GoS of 2% is preffered in TCH traffic channel while that of 1% is preffered to SDCCH signalling channel,
And i think it is important to note that GoS is the Probability of Blocking and not Call drop after the setup phase.

    I am Rudyno, third grade
student of electrical engineering from University of
Indonesia. I have a problem about switching design
course. The problem is to design configuration of a
switching network by using space switch. Which is
serve 50 subscribers with calling rate 0.05 erlang,
interoffice connection 0.2 erlang, and the rest for
outgoing. Please give me the hint to solve it,
especially about the interoffice connection. What does
it mean? I am sorry if there are many mistakes in my
    words. Thank you very much.
