    Dears,
I found Path Balance = 0 (in one RTF at motorola BTS).

    What is this mean?
or its an error in statistics?

    Hello Ayman,

How is calculated your path balance ? Normally if path balance = 0, it means your cell is perfectly balanced 🙂 so it’s all good.

    Hi Pix,

    But its not good cell.

We calculate Path Balance as the following:

    path balance = path loss + 110
path loss = uplink path loss – downlink path loss
    where:
uplink path loss = actual MS txpower – rxlev_ul(in BTS)
downlink path loss = actual BTS txpower – rxlev_dl(in MS)

so if the loss =0 that means Path Balance = 110 ~(V.good cell)

Ok, that’s a weird computation… So it means the mobiles in this cell are receiving a very very weak RXLEV DL. Which means that your cell is sending a very weak signal.

I suspect a transmission power very low. Swap your TRE and your ANC with new equipments, and check if the TX power is back.

We know that if this RTF is defined as BCCH and SDCCH AND switchable (SDCCH or TCH) the path balance = 0 .
with other words path balance is calculated only on TCH channel
is this correct? please I want more details about this.

Path balance can also be computed on a SDCCH timeslot as well as on a TCH timeslot. but i’m not sure i understand your question, actually.

    Dear Ayman

Zero path Balance in Motorola means
    ur DRI is not Transmitting…
Firstly give it Hard Reset, if path
balance is not OK then replace the DRI….

Also check if the other DRI on the
same feeder is having good path
balance; if not then check the feeder…

a DRI has 0 path balance if its either not transmitting or not carrying calls, in either ways reset the radio or better swap it and try again

if the same RTF still does not carry calls or has path balance value of 0 and the cell has low traffic; then maybe that RTF has a higher interference value or it has higher channel allocation priority

Is PB for this RTF=0 in all 48 intervals?
