gprs planning is highly linked to the abis & ater & gb dimensionning. from a radio planning point of view, special care must be brought to frequency planning (direct impact of C/I on the throughput performances) and in case of EDGE, there is a decrease of TRX output power (different modulation).

Also, radio capacity must be re-dimension, to cater for aditionnal data traffic (marketing inputs)

i need to know when you do drive test how to do calcul about some radio parameter to do a report for example -64 -69:75 PERCENT
    -70 -79:80 PERCENT
    HOW CAN DO THIS CALCUL.

    Hello Patrick,

i don’t know if the “automatic kpi reports” will have this feature or not. Try it out.

    (part 2)

Otherwise you’ll have to export the TEMS logfile in text format, then open it with Excel, and perform the RXLEV sample distribution by using formula…

Can anyone tell me about the effect of the feature DTM(Dual Transfer Mode) on the radio net work system.

    Hello Gerard,

The DTM feature (alcatel b10) allows to send or receive packets while being already in a CS communication.

During a CS call, one user can get PDCHs while still keeping its CS timeslot. Of course, the GPRS performances are a little bit reduced (if the MS is originally a 3+2 then, during a CS call, it can only get 2+1 PDCHs).

It doesn’t require hardware changes in the BSS nor NSS, it is a very “soft” change in the network.
