Why is the transmitted power from BTS to a mobile phone higher in GSM900, as compared to GSM1800?
    e.g.
GSM900 transmitted power from BTS: 39dBm
GSM1800 transmitted power from BTS: 36dBm

    How do we explain this?

    Hello,

GSM1800 is more effected by noise than GSM900, therefore it is meant to cover a smaller area than the GSM900. Usually in planning, we refer to GSM1800 as the inner zone, while GSM900 is the outer zone.

    Hi HB,
Not only from BTS to MS, but also there is a power limitation for the MS, Max Tx Power for MS in GSM900 is 33dBm & for GSM1800 is 30dBm, This liitations in UL & DL are to compensate the respective attenuations

    Best Regards

hi thats because frequancy is propotional to attenuation
    when frequancy incease attenuation increase
