did you activate the UL power control and the DTX uplink ?

    if no : activate them

if yes : check your UL power control thresholds (upper and lower), decrease those values by few dB in order to reduce the overall uplink noise in your network.

all BSC’s in my GSM 900 network are suffering from an increasing on TCH drop rate with bad quality up link and sudden reasons.
TCH drop rate 0.87% to 1.6%.
what do you think I have to do to improve it? by the way all power control parameters set correctly.

That is a huge increase. Are you absolutely sure no parameter has been changed (eg, BADQUL on the BSC)?

Let your BSS/Core network guys perform a synchronization audit.

If you’ve not already done so, please activate Interference Rejection Combining (IRC). It will definitely help with the uplink quality drops.

    Hi,

Please check if ICM is active (Idle Channel Measurements)

ICM bands are used for prioritizing good quality channels for allocation first and keeping the bad ones as a last resort.

    Good Luck

    Dear all
You should check the TA of drop calls. If your drop calls are at far places down tilt your antennas or if you dont want to loose coverage install TMA. TMAs will improve your UL strength.
