Has Nokia ever come up with a definite solution for the following alarm condition?

“Difference between PCM and base station frequency reference”

Have replaced BOIA, FXC, smjk, T1 extention, Abis cable.

    Running out of idea’s here.

    TIA

    I have a similary problem.

    BCF-045 EQUIPM 2006-10-31 23:49:17.38
    ** ALARM
    (12739) 7601 BCF OPERATION DEGRADED
Difference between PCM and base station frequency reference.

    signal quality:
    ZYMO:ET,33:;
Sometimes, i have EFS not at 100%

I think that you must check your PCM like me.
Your PCM is bad quality but not enough to broke the link.

    NED:

    7601 BCF OPERATION DEGRADED
    Meaning
A major fault (or faults) has occurred in the base station.

Check the fault reason from the supplementary text field of the alarm.
    Supplementary information fields
1-6 XX XX XX XX XX XX
    1 2 3 4 5 6

    1) rack (cabinet) number
    4) type of unit
    2) shelf number
    5) unit number
    3) slot
    6) subunit number

Fault reason: Difference between PCM and base station frequency reference.
    Instruction:
    1. Check the cabling.
    2. If the cabling is OK, replace the BOI.

    You must following than operations:
    1) Restart OMU channel of BCF ( ZEFR:XX:OMU; (where XX- number of BCF))

    2) IF the alarm become again please watch synchronization on bcf( use Nokia UltraSiteHub Manager)

3)If this operation not succeed please check the cabling and than replace the BOI

REMARK: IF BCF IT’S NEW PLEASE WAIT 1 DAY.

First, thank you for your reply! What synchronization information should I be looking for in BTS Hub Manager? Is it the synchronization cable between cabinets that I should replace? This is a single frame 4+4+4 850/1900 cabinet so it does not have a cable.

    Synchronization:
    PRIORITY ONE= Your PCM (2Mbit) FXC E1/T1)

    PRIORITY TWO= internal timing

    what cable do you speak????

BTS take her synchronization on her PCM link.

remember PCM quality on ET of BSC is:
    ZYMO:ET,xx;
All in 100%, local and remote end EFS.

ZYMO:ET,xx;- don’t always show errors( it’s experience base). Cable between FXC E1/T1 and cross base station. He’s name PCMCI

If this operation not succeed please – replace the BOI

question:How transmission comes on Base station?(USING OPTICAL CABLE OR DMR)

ZYMO:ET,xx;- don’t always show errors( it’s experience base).

=> BECAUSE on ATER or GB, there is not error compter

    ZYMO
This compter is very reliable for ABIS link.

Is there a ZYMO commmand that is similar to the ZEOH:,:BCF=XX; that will show the history of the ET PCM?

Transmission is provided by fiber but is extended into site on copper extension CAT-5 cable.

    Syncronization settings:

    1) Rx Clock IF 1
    2) Internal Timing

ZYMO indicates that all are 100%.

    Have already replaced BOIA.

    Any idea’s?

ZYMO => measurement of your PCM link quality. (ET of BSC)

ZEOH => history of alarm of your BTS.

Could the T1 Rx Signal be causing this problem?

This is what I observed at the smart jack.

Voltage p-p and Rx signal fluctuating from:

    2.5 V p-p to 4.49 V p-p

    and signal

    -14.5 dBdbx to -2.5 dBdbx

Will the telco provider fix this problem or is this considered acceptable.

As always, thanks for all of the help!

I have the same problem but with FXC E1/T1

I think, it is a bad quality of signal but i don’t know why and where.

It is strange because everything is OK:

    -BTS OK
    -13 mhz OK
    -ZYMO:ET OK

If you find the solution, tell me it.
