hi Im a fresh graduate engineer. I really need to know information regarding things like 8/8/8 configuration – what exactly it means and how would i know how much BCCH and TCH channel to assign?

That is 8 TRX Per sector.
    Each TRX has 8 TS.
    So 64 TS Per Sector.

    3 Sectors-TOTAL 64*3 TS.

Each SECTOR needs its own BCCH.
I am not sure how many with this config.

    I am just CORE-Guy.

    1+1+1 ?

we need 1 BCCH for a sector and as for as singanalling is concern u need to calculate it.

for a 444 site we take 2 TS per sector for signalling,

it depends for on much ur signalling load is like

(no. of call attempts*avg SDCCH holhing time)/ 3600 + (no. of LU * avg Sdcch holding time)/3600.

n da no. of erlang u get.. look for no of channel required on Erlang table.

that will gve u no. of channel for signalling

    regards

    hello,
easy way to find out how many sdcchs you need is (NUMBER OF TRX)/2…
    so…
    TRX SDCCH
    1 combinedBCCH
    2 1
    3 2
    4 2
    5 3
    6 3
    7 4
    8 4….

    Thanks all..
    now lets say:
i have 50 gsm channel , and im using 4/4/4 configuration. Frequency Re-use is 5.
    No of sites is 100.
and the size of the area will be 1000 sqrkm.

so how should i calculate the allowed BCCH and ARFCN?
    please advise.
